Volunteer Opportunities
All families are required to serve a minimum of forty (40) Christian Service Hours each year. In addition to keeping tuition affordable, parent and family participation is an integral part of the St. Charles Borromeo community.
Listed below are some of the events and functions at which you may earn Christian Service Hours. Please look over this sheet to identify events or functions to which you may want to contribute your time. Once you identify the events or functions that interest you, please complete the form on the back of this sheet and return it to the school office so that the appropriate contact persons can reach out to you. Note that this sheet does not obligate you to any particular event. Rather, it just shows your interest. Furthermore, please note that this list is by no means exhaustive.
TRAFFIC ASSISTANCE/BEFORE SCHOOL SUPERVISION – Provide traffic direction in the parking lot between 7:15am and 8:15am on various school mornings. Supervise students in the School Café between 7:15am and 7:45am on various school mornings.
LIBRARY – Assist St. Charles Librarian with various tasks in the Library including helping students pick out books, keeping track of books, and reading to students.
OUTREACH – Assist Outreach Coordinator with school-wide service project. Various tasks include assisting classes with their assigned task, organizing donations, and making preparations for distribution.
HOSPITALITY – Setup and cleanup refreshments at various school events throughout the year.
SALES FUNDRAISERS – Assist Fundraising Chair with various tasks associated with sales fundraisers including counting money, tracking sales, and distributing product. Sales fundraisers include Magazine Drive, Cookie Dough Sale, and World’s Finest Chocolate Sale.
USED UNIFORM SALE – Sell gently used uniforms to school families at various times throughout the year.
HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL – Assist Halloween Chairpersons with setup and decoration of game booths for the Halloween Carnival. Other tasks include working booths, cleanup, and preparation of goodie bags.
CASINO NIGHT – Assist Casino Night Chairperson with various activities including set-up, clean-up, bartending, registration, and donations/sponsorships.
WALK-A-THON – Assist Home and School Committee on day of Walk-a-Thon with set up, lap counting, refreshments for students, and cleanup. Walk-a-thon is held in Februrary .
SILENT AUCTION – Assist Silent Auction Chairperson with various activities throughout the year including wrapping baskets, sorting donations, and soliciting donors. Additional tasks include helping during the Parish Festival weekend and follow up afterwards.
ALTAR & SHRINES – Assist committee with Sunday envelopes, organizing missals, and holy water in the Church on Saturday mornings.
SPECIAL PURCHASES – Assist school by purchasing extra items specifically identified by the school throughout the year. Service hours available for every $25 spent.
