Weathering, Erosion, Deposition Study Guide

Weathering: the breaking down of rocks and minerals by physical, chemical or biological processes

                    *ice, roots, moving water, wind chemicals

 

Erosion: the movement of soil or sediment from one location to another

              *water, ice (glaciers), wind

 

Deposition: when particles carried by water, ice, or wind are deposited (dropped) in another location

                   *delta, alluvial fans, meanders, flood plains

 

Students, you may choose to work as pairs or small groups to gather/prepare materials for the experiment.  You may try it at home first as many time as you'd like, but the experiment must be demonstrated in class for the extra credit grade. 

Experiments must be demonstrated between March 12th-15th.  A demonstration time must be scheduled by Monday, March 11th.

We are completing it in stages- 

Please do NOT complete it ahead of time.
