Mock Trial

Mock Trial is open to Grades 6-8

The St. Charles Borromeo School Mock Trial Team competes in the annual Constitutional Rights Foundation’s Los Angeles County Mock Trial Competition.  Our middle school students play courtroom roles in a simulated criminal court case.  Our team competes against other public and private middle schools in the Los Angeles area.  They present their case in an actual courtroom at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles.  The team of students prepares and present the trial from the perspective of both the prosecution and the defense.  Mock Trial team members play different roles, including trial attorneys, witnesses, clerks, and bailiffs.  Presiding judges and attorneys evaluate each team’s performance.

The cases alternate each year between civil and criminal cases.  Mock Trial registration is in August/September.  The case is released early in September and the competition is held in November.  Our team is moderated by our parent attorney coaches Rebecca Meyer and Michelle House.
