While tinkering in your grandfather's garage, you stumble across something that looks a little bit odd. It appears to be a phone booth! You decide to enter the booth and, as soon as you do, bright lights suddenly appear all around you. When you exit the booth, everything around you looks different. You come to realize that the year is 1124 CE and you have been transported to Nara, which is the capital of Japan.
Your task is to create an illustrated diary that you will be able to share upon your return to modern times!
Requirements:
- read the scenario for each of your diary pages an respond appropriately
- for each page/scenario, include at least THREE major details from life in Medieval Japan that you learned from the work at each station
- be realistic and use appropriate vocabulary! sneak in key vocabulary words where you can!
- add pictures to your illustrated diary on each page that shows your trip!
- remember, this diary is to help share what you have learned during your time in Japan. So, be detailed and descriptive
- you must hand write your diary and hand draw your pictures
- pictures must be colored
- you will be graded on your spelling, grammar, and neatness

1. You have just spent the day observing a samurai, Kaito. he was able to inform you of the role of the samurai in his time period, as well as the responsibilities he has to his daimyo. Be sure to include a picture that captures a moment in your day with Kaito!
2. Today you witnessed two of Japan's most interesting cultural traditions! You have always heard of sumo wrestling and martial arts, but you never learned their origins until today! Include an image that sums up your day.
3. You had the privilege of learning the origins of the ninja today. In your diary piece, be sure to highlight your day focusing on how this group originated, who would participate, and what weapons they might use! Also - include a picture from your day!
4. To cap off your trip, you spent a weekend in the mountainside. Here, you were able to meet both a follower of Shintoism and Buddhism! In your diary, capture the highlights of you weekend while documenting the important tenets of these major religions.
