Family Photo - Email or bring to class on Monday 2/14/22

  • For Monday 2/14/22 (Dia de San Valentin) bring 1-2 photos of your family
  • The photo should represent the Spanish vocab we are studying in class for our current "La Familia" lesson (mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, son, daughter, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, cousins)
  • A pic of your pet is ok, but there must be family members also to present to the class
  • We will take notes & practice the presentation in class before presenting to the class. You may use notes in your final presentation
  • 20 Participation points: 5 for photo, 5 for vocabulary, 5 for grammar, 5 for verbal presentaion

La Familia vocabulary, worksheets, class notes

  • Copy the family vocabulary on the worksheets, including the article (el / la)
  • Look up & write down the vocab in English
  • Add "el primo" & "la prima" (cousin) in the margin of one of the worksheets
  • In class, we learned "Se llama ________________ " to introduce someone else by their name
For example:  Mi madre SE LLAMA Linda. (My mother's name is Linda)

Singular - Plural - Masculine - Feminine - Spanish Agreement Quiz on Monday

  • You may use your class folder on the quiz
  • It's short (7 questions)
The quiz will look a little like this:
 
There will be a word (noun) like "pavo" (turkey) and a number in front, like "dos" (2) - which is a clue that it is plural.  Given two options to choose from,
A. pavo 
B. pavos - you would choose b. pavos (the plural form).
 
You might have another noun like "papa" (potato), a number in front, like "tres" (3) which is a clue that it is plural, and then a choice of 4 adjectives (you have been learning colors also with gender agreement).  The ending -a is a clue the noun is femininien, the ending -o is a clue it is masculine. So the answer choices for the adjective would be: 
A. rojo
B. roja
C. rojos
D. rojas
The correct answer would be D - tres papas rojas (3 red potatoes)
 
The last noun we covered was "regalos" (gifts which in Spanish is a masculine noun - the students learned to look at the suffix, or ending to determine -o for masculine or -a for feminine). So if the quiz asks for the correct adjective for "2 regalos _____________" - the choices would be:
 
A. rojo
B. roja
C. rojos
D. rojas
  • The correct answer would be C ("regalos" is plural and masculine, so 2 red gifts)  Agreement basically just means the adjective has to match the noun.

  • Student + Parent/Guardian carefully read the Criteria (2 documents - distributed in class on Mon. 11/15/21 & attached here as well)
  • Sign and date at bottom of Behavior Expectations document
  • Turn in signed paper copy to Ms. Klein (to be kept in class folder)
  • Counts as the first quiz grade of the 2nd Trimester (10 points)
  • Forged parent/guardian signatures are a serious violation of academic conduct and integrity, and will result in serious disciplinary action
