8th Literature & Language Arts (24-25) Assignments

Use Vocabulary.com to complete your Spelling practice for the week. Make sure you are using the SPELLING BEE list, but you may also practice off of the regular vocab list. Add a screenshot at the end of your progress in the hopes that you can get 75% or more by the end. Minimum to turn in is 75% accuracy but you MUST have the whole list completed.

For those of you that were not in class, please watch the attached video and fill out the worksheet. On the second page, choose ONE to answer.

ELA OR Literature (must tell me what you want me to use it for): Choose one writing prompt from the TKAM workbook to turn into a full page piece of writing. Depending on the writing, follow standard writing rules. Must be full effort in order to get a grade.

Spelling: Create a Google Slideshow or ONE scane that is basically a portfolio of all of your spelling pretests. Photos should be clear.

Take a HIGH QUALITY photo of your One Pager and submit it here. Please make double/triple sure that you have followed all directions on the rubric as this is a large chunk of your Reading/Literature grade and if you missed things, it will get deducted from your total. I've linked the rubric and original handout below. If you try to submit your One Pager and you did not get brainstorm approval from me, I will not be grading it. I can't wait to see how creative these turned out!

Use this viewing guide to answer questions while you are watching the film version of The Call of the Wild. Be careful and do not assume that all answers will be the same as they would in the book. All answers should be according to the film. This will not be graded only for completion, but by the accuracy of the answers. All areas have light grey text boxes and are easily editable. Please make sure that you ONLY open this up in Google Docs and NOT a PDF editor.

Using your book as evidence and any annotations and/or notes you've taken for ANY assignments on this novel, choose one of the three prompts to answer in a well-written 5 paragraph essay.

As we are working through learning about essay structure, it would be good to use your notes from those lessons to help you. This essay must be original (meaning not plagiarized from any source including classmates).

You MUST include evidence from the novel to back up your claims in each body paragraph. ONLY use the Google Doc that is attached here to write your essay. Attach your brainstorm as an image or document to be graded.

Please read over the One Pager PDF document before class today. These are the instructions for your The Call of the Wild final project. I will THOROUGHLY go over the instructions as well as give you examples of what this project can look like when done. The brainstorm document will be due first. You will use this brainstorm for me to approve your project and make sure that you are on track for success. Click the Google Slides (make sure it opens in slides), and click in the areas for the textboxes to start typing. Draw a line or circle using the line or circle tool on the first page to show what connect four line you are doing.

IMPORTANT: If you have questions about this before our class today, write them down so you don't forget. Do not email me or comment here about them. Wait for class.
