Due:
Choose ANY character from ANY of the novels we read this year (Freak the Mighty, Esperanza Rising, The Westing Game, Stargirl) and design what you think their hydroflask would look like. Choose the color, design or find stickers to put on it. Hydroflasks are always so unique to each person so this should be a unique reflection of your chosen character. Please also identify which character and from what novel. This may be printed out and done as well.
Tip: for stickers, use remove.bg like we did with the locker project paired with any sticker website like Redbubble to find stickers that would be appropriate for your character

Op Art creation. (Due by end of period in next Friday's Art Class)
You will need:
White paper (lined paper fine if you don’t have plain white paper)
Black sharpie, pen, or marker (marker or sharpie are preferred)
Colored pencils or crayons (not markers)
1. Begin by making a curved horizontal line (think hills not mountains) from one end of the page to the other
2. Make 8 dots on your line. Make sure the distance between those dots varies and that you have a dot close to each end of the paper too
3. Start connecting the dots with bumps. The lines from the dots close to the edge will go off the edge of the paper to an imaginary dot
4. Keep making bumps. The lines will eventually go off the top and bottom of the paper.
5. Fill the WHOLE paper
6. Pick 2 or 3 colors that you think would go together nicely. Colored pencil or crayons, fill in the spaces. Press harder in the corners. As you get near the top of each bump, press lighter and lighter. This will create a shade and highlight effect. Alternate those colors along the same bumps
7. Continue until work is complete
(If you get stuck, check out the Youtube tutorial I've linked below)

Due:
Use this area to turn in your 1-5 minute long stop motion short film. The requirements that we went over in class before are:
-Must be 1-5 minutes in length (this can include title and credits)
-Must tell a story. This means that there must be a clear beginning, middle, and end with some sort of conflict or goal
Other than that, as shown with your storyboarding, just have fun with it. We have had several weeks to work on this and some of you are already done, so simply attach your video here and turn in. Friday's class will be used to troubleshoot and/or finish.

Due:
Creating your own Mandala for calming and centering. Watch the video on how to create your own Mandala and spend some time with some calming music (I've linked the one I always play in class for you guys) to create one of your own, bonus if it’s colored in! Feel free to create a unique pattern of your own, but the idea is to fill up as much of the blank page that you can. Take a picture and turn in here.
Due:
Use this area to turn in your inspired self portrait. Please put either in the comment of your turn in area or the title of what you're turning in include which artist you are inspired by for your self portrait.
Due:
Use this template (either digital or printed) to create your own ugly Christmas/Holiday sweater design. All of the designs will be voted upon by St. Charles faculty and staff and the winner will be declared on Friday!
Due:
Use this to turn in your art slideshow. One person should “create” the slideshow and the others will simply mark as done when it is done and in the comments write who they worked with.
You will have two class periods to work on this together. Ideally, you should divide this up equally and each person will work on their assigned slides. Put yourself name on the bottom corner of a slide if you worked on it.
Items that MUST be included:
Artist name
Birthdate and death
A brief history of their life and art
3-5 examples of their art
Style and medium (materials they used)
5 interesting facts about them

Due:
You can print out one of the sugar skulls from this file, use the blank one at the end, or draw your own entirely. Whatever you choose, please create a unique sugar skull to honor those that have passed. If you would like to make one that specifically references someone from your life or a notable figure that has passed, that could be great.
Due:
Use this area to turn in your four quarters paper of fall leaves. Please make sure to outline in black, and use fall/autumn colors in a gradient on each of your leaves.
If you were not present in class, please check out the attached guided drawing video which shows how to do the actual leaves.
For this assignment, I am asking that you fold your paper into quarters and put one different leaf in each of the 4 boxes. Use AUTUMN/FALL colors only.

Due:
After learning about foreground, middleground, and background, and learning about how to create depth in your art, use the PDF below to print out if you have a printer or create your own original design with the lesson, using the template below as a visual reference. We will be doing this together in class, and you can finish up after, but it must be turned in no later than Monday evening. Please be aware of deadlines and the project requirements.
The finished product should look, structurally, like my example, but design-wise can be as creative as you'd like. Have fun with it and make sure that it is entirely colored, and has a HIGH QUALITY, in frame photo taken of it to upload back here when turning in.

Due:
Following the directions from class, or if you've missed class or need extra help, from the link below, take a CLEAR picture of your finished star and attach it here to turn in. Let's get this turned today as it's classwork.
NOTE: ONLY finish the star, coloring, and pattern and have that ready for Friday the 11th. We will complete the background part together and then the whole thing will be ready to turn in by the end of the period.
